Not a Quitter
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV
For way too long I was quite comfortable being a quitter.
I quit brownies
the troop kind
not the tasty kind
because
I was afraid
of not fitting in.
I was in second grade.
I quit band
because
I measured my worth
by the accolades
of first flute
before
I was moved to third.
I was in 7th grade.
I quit sharing
my real
because
faking fine
and
fabulous
darling
seemed much more acceptable.
I was in my 20’s.
I quit trying
to chase perfection
and
soul surrendered to His grace.

Not soon enough.
Then when
I quit defining
LOVE
by unrealistic exceptions
especially mine
and simply embraced His
the craziest thing emerged.
Me.
All kinds of quirky
and
so not a quitter anymore.
Live free, beloved. XOXO
